Weightloss plateau! No loss for 6 months! I’m a devoted low carber? Help!?

Being overweight has a psychological effect on many of those who have been battling for a long time with excess fat. A lot of them are stumped with the idea of how to lose weight. They think they have tried everything and failed in their weight loss  But once you hit the mark with the right choice of natural dietary supplement. In more recent years, many have uncovered this mystery by taking Acai Berry to get rid of excess weight and stay off it permanently.

My doctor advised me to try low carb after having a baby and suffering a back issue which is aggravated by carrying extra weight.

I’ve lost 3 1/2 stone so far (49lbs) but for the last 6 months my weight has completely stalled. I lose the same few lbs then put them back on again in a cycle.

I really dont want any comments from ignorant people about how bad low carb diets are…the body can burn fat for energy, which is what it’s designed to do, our bodies evolved to their current state before we ever developed agriculture, so actually a diet low in grains and starches is the optimal and most natural diet for us so please no answers about that.

I feel great on a low carb diet, great energy levels, great mental clarity, generally feel very healthy but my back has gone again (i have a malformed disk) and i need to lose at least another stone if not two to mimimise the strain on my back.

So my question is….any of you seasoned Atkin’s/ low carbers out there who can advise on how to get over the stall/plateau?

I generally eat between 25 and 45 grams of carb a day in the form of salad, green veg, salad veg and dairy. I eat a very healthy diet of homecooked organic food and drink plenty of water. I drink herbal teas and have decaff tea with whole milk (which i include in my carb count)

It’s really depressing to stick to the way of eating, need to lose the weight and it just not budging!!

But please no anti-low carb answers or acai berries or people selling their diet.

Well there are a number of things that could get you over your plateau. The thing to rememer though is to try switching things up.

If you eat 1200 calories in one day, eat 2000 the next, then 1500 calories the day after that. Your body has gotten used to eating so man calories every single day, shock it by eating more calories one day than it does the other.

Have you tried strength training. Building muscle will help your body burn off that extra fat. And no it will not make you look like one of those huge bulky guys, not unless you’re on steroids. If you already are strength training then add more weight.

Go back to eating more carbs. BUT only for a week or so. Your body has gotten used to eating barely any carbs, but if you were to introduce more carbs, it would start burning them and burning more fat. At the end of the week go back to your regular eating routine and your body will still be in fat burning mode.

Remember to switch up your routine since your body has gotten so used to doing things this way, shock it by doing things another way. You could even try a new diet.

I would suggest actually adding some other carbs in. Mix it up. Eat every 2-3 hours. Like an apple, banana, orange, etc…
Try to add a few nuts(they can help flatten the tummy)

Well it sounds like you been doing a great job on lossing the weight but maybe the reason you havn’t lost anything lately or it’s been hard to is because your body is exhausted by how much you had lost. A friend of mine told me that when i had lost in total 65 pounds and then it was hard to loss weight for a minute. What she suggested me to do is to trick my body as in adding more to my diet like more carbs, protein, starch and some sugar. I didn’t wanted to because i was afraid to gain but i had no choice so i tried it. I gain a few pounds but then i started to loss weight again so it actually worked. Just add a little bit more to your diet for at least 3 weeks or a mnth and trick your body so it’ll know your not on a diet and then go back to your routin and you’ll start to loss weight again.
